gangsters are a group of people who want to look like the mexican gangsters.
They try to appropriate of this subculture due to they feel identified with
their way of dressing and their way of life. But it is necessary to clarify
that in spite of Thais should admire this subculture, they are not participants
of criminal or violent acts. They live a common and current life, with
employments like teachers, policemen or bureaucrats. This style of life is like
a hobby, and for this reason they just want to have funny moments with their
friends and in some cases they fight
against the corruption in the society. This group show us that in spite
of a subculture is presided over by a predominant culture, they can have their
own tastes or their own thinkings.
I agree with you. Despite they practice this culture coming from of Mexican culture; it is true that this subculture has its own thinking and behaviors, because according to video and reading they don’t share the same aggressive conduct of this urban group by doing they change some ideas.
ReplyDeleteI think that you are saying is true. The Bangkok´s mexican gangsters are a community who just take the look from mexican gangster and not their negative behave. On the contrary this thai men are interested in the social problems around them.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting topic eeste subcultural appropriation, because it is very common these days to see people that look different but do not know why, or what subculture they belong. And most interesting about this is that sometimes they did not know everything they should know.
